The recent strategy paper of the FDP party leader Guido Westerwelle, entitled "Freedom is Responsibility" states that:
We have conducted our campaign as an advocate of the forgotten middle . That remains our policy objective of which we must not be distracted. We have had five main themes of our campaign:
- "make work pay again". This means that small and medium income are relieved that economic growth is enhanced and regular work must be more attractive than the dependence on social transfers
- "strengthen civil rights." This means that private before the public, privacy, and working towards a tolerant, cosmopolitan society
- "Education is a Civil Right." This means that investments in education, training and research, even in times of tight budgets take precedence and education should not depend on the purse of the parents.
- For a rational environmental policy. This means that we have the age of renewable want to achieve energy. But for economic and ecological reasons, we also still need bridge technologies.
- Liberal foreign policy. This means that we need a foreign policy that strengthens the common Europe, disarmament initiatives taking, defending human rights and assumes international responsibility.
And we have signed - even on our posters - with our expert team. We were not single-issue party and we were not one-person party. We are not there today and will be in the future. We must not let even believe.
