The Curta (also Kurwa) is a mechanical adding machine in the form of a
cylinder with a crank at the top. The operating principle is that of double
stepped drum. She is still the smallest mass-produced mechanical
four-species calculator in the world and will remain so in all probability, too.

Curt Herzstark => Inventors:
It was built by the Austrian office machines manufacturers Curt Herzstark constructed.
Herzstark finished the construction plans in the concentration camp Buchenwald. The Curta was only after the war
in Liechtenstein AG, set up specially Contina in production. She was
at that time a technical sensation. Originally it was to be called Liliput, the name Curta
derived from the first name of the designer.
